There is a green hill far away...

March 24, 2013

Companion: Elder Lucas

Hello People of the World,

How is everyone? We have had a very good week. Elder Lucas and I have biked a lot. Almost 150 miles we have biked together, which is about 30% of our time together. We have had kind of a different week. We have dropped, or stopped teaching, all of our investigators except for 2, which have a goal for baptism this next month. Our two investigators are very great people, and we love them so much. One of them has gone through a lot and is currently quitting his smoking and drinking habit. We spent a day in this area about 15 kilometers outside of the main city that we live in. It was very hot, and we went through lots of bottles of water. We met some very nice people. One of them is a chicken farmer, and he had at one time went to a Christian church. The other one owned a snack shop, and had a family. Very nice and he wanted to know who and what we were.

Well, that is it. The pictures are of the beauty that I get to enjoy every one in a while. Beautiful green.

Changing

March 17 2013

Companion: Elder Lucas

Hello People of the World,

Well, transfers came and went. I have stayed in Yasothon another four weeks. I am with Elder Lucas (Ian), he is from Davis High too!!! We are getting along so far and have a lot of things in common. It was kind of a slow, bad week, mostly because of Transfers.

One really good thing happened though. We have a man that has been drinking alcohol and smoking for who knows how long. He hasn't been super receptive towards us and what we do, but lately he has been changing a lot. He really likes us and is quitting the smoking and drinking. He is actually one of our daters. We had an awesome lesson with him yesterday and we discovered that he REALLY wants to be baptized and feels bad that we have to bike for 12 kilometers just to teach him. It is totally worth it though, our other dater lives that direction, just as far away. Sweetness.

That is it for the week.

Working

March 10, 2013

Companion: Elder Marshall

Hello People of the World,

It's been a crazy week. it sounds like. Us personally have had one too. I had the 24-hour flu on Tuesday. I was out, down, dying. I basically slept all day trying to get better. We had a wonderful District Meeting about working with the members. It was really good, and we took it to heart. Elder Marshall and I went and sat at a member's food cart and helped sell stuff. She was surprised and asked if we had eaten any bad food or were sick or what not. We were there for an hour and just talked with us and said how grateful she was that we were there, (it was rush hour). Another member we helped was a Less-Active. We were at his car shop all day helping him work on cars. He was super excited for our (Elder Marshall's) help because when we first got there, he was all up in a weird position trying to put something together. There even needed to be an oil change, which Elder Marshall did. We were fed by him all day, and he was super excited. Funny enough, after four weeks of working with him, he came to church for the first time in years. He just wanted to change and was even going through smoking withdrawals while we were with him.

In other news: Elder Todd wrecked himself on his bike (I still don't know details) causing him to not be able to ride a bike or walk for a few days. He said that they are going to try biking today. We are getting ready to have transfers meeting this week and we don't know if anyone is staying or moving. Stay posted. Also: this next transfer is only going to be four weeks to compensate for the announcement made by President Monson last October. We are all excited. 32 new missionaries will be coming in then. The work is moving.

That is all for me and my week,

see ya,

Elder Anthony Susi

Family History work

March 3, 2013

Companion: Elder Marshall

Hello People of the World,

This has been a quiet week it looks like. I didn't do too much either. I went on a switch-off. The first one that I conducted. It was good. Elder Engle and I went out into the backwoods on the Isaan area to find some people to talk to. Well we did, and they were all eating some watermelon. We sat down and talked to them. They were all excited to talk to us white guys and they were willing to share watermelon, share laughs and just talk. We talked about families and how important they are. There was interest and some wanted to learn English with us, so we invited them to learn some more. We left on good feelings, and they were actually sad that we had to go. So were we.

Yasothon is celebrating it's "birthday" for the next several days. There is a big market right next to a lake, which gives us a good chance to mingle and have us be seen. We already got some fun people talking to us. Other than that, I think that I am going to work on family history kind of. It's harder here, but I can still try.

I hope that everyone has a good week, and that Matthew had a very Happy Birthday.

New House

February 24, 2013

Companion: Elder Marshall

Hello People of the World,

How is everyone? We moved houses this week, so not much actually happened. It was good because we weren't getting anything done. We were all getting stressed, there was no room. Our new house now has enough space to all has our own room, bathroom, and study space. There just isn't enough to talk about. Sorry. I hope that everyone has a good week.

See you soon,

Elder Anthony Susi
