Companion: Elder Tanawut

Hello People of the World,

Well, I think that this week has been pretty tame. I had to stare at my Journal to see what I should talk about. Speaking of Journals, I have lied in my Journal, twice. OH NO!!! Not really a lie, but I wrote in it, and then we would get a call from the District Leader, and change something that I have written down, and I wouldn't change it. Too lazy. Two little things, no big deal.

Anyway, here is my week. Like I said, kinda tame this week. I am very grateful for our member that teaches English, comes to our English Class and teaches. I can hardly teach religion, English is way hard. Wednesday was the most exciting day. We were with the Senior Couple from Roi Et Wednesday morning, so that they could visit some members.  Afterwards, it was 12:00, and they wanted to get us lunch. Elder Tanawut said a place, this particular place takes forever to make you food. We waited a half-hour to get our food, and ate in 15 minutes. We were on our way and about 7km out of Roi Et, when Elder Khanakham, the senior elder, pulled over. His wife was like, "ok, time for beddy-bye. He's gonna take a nap." I thought she was joking, until we were at full stop and he had taken a nap for 5 minutes. After she finally woke him up, we continued. We got into the city at 1:00, and there was a traffic jam, a.k.a. rush hour. At 1:00, we were officially late to the District Meeting that we were supposed to be at. We were in traffic for an additional 20 minutes before reaching the church in Roi Et. I hate being late to anything, and I knew that we shouldn't have eaten lunch first.

I finally got my mission badge! YAY!!!!!! That means that my missionary badge has the church in Thai, my name in English and in Thai. This helps Thai people know how to pronounce my name. I actually spelled it pretty close to how it was sent, I just added a small marker that changes the tone. We had an investigator tell us that she had finished the Book of Mormon. We hadn't seen her for a week. There was a slight problem though, she hadn't learned anything, and she didn't remember anything either. She only remembered something about some Lehi and him having sons. We are gonna have her read it again, carefully. After an investigator's lesson on Friday, we were talking about what to do to help him keep commitments. Elder Tanawut gave this suggestion, "use your farang charm." This investigator loves farangs, and I can tell, because he always asks random, non-gospel related questions. For example, "Do you know Snow White?" He asked me that last lesson. I'm always got off guard. So, Elder Tanawut thinks that I need to just give all commitments, because maybe he'll do it if I ask. Yeah, that's just silly.

Awesome bit of news, our dater had his interview. He passed. We knew that he would. He's got lots of faith, and is really excited about this Saturday. I have the honor of baptizing him. Sweet!

That's my week, I hope that you liked it. I look forward to writing soon. Oh, sidenote. I'm going on a cleaning craze at our house. It is a disaster, and I want to open our mysterious upstairs. I took a peek already, it looks really good. I don't know why it's closed. I'm fixing that, hopefully today.

Wish me luck,

Elder Anthony Susi
